Criteria for Lay Salvatorian Membership Lay
Salvatorians USA is
an organization co-sponsored by The Society of the Divine Savior and
The Congregation of The Sisters of the Divine Savior, Religious
Communities within the Roman Catholic Church. Lay Salvatorians
are Catholic men and women seeking to take a more intensive role in ministry
and leadership within their everyday lives. Lay Salvatorians are open to
married couples (partners in marriage are encouraged but not obligated to
join together) and single men and women. Each
applicant is evaluated on an individual basis. It is important that the good
of the individual, the good of the local or regional Salvatorian community,
and the good of all Salvatorians and their mission be kept in mind when a recommendation
concerning acceptance is made. A person of another faith tradition can be
considered for the Lay Salvatorians. Each
applicant will be expected to participate in an initial period of contact and
information gathering for the discernment of the individual and the
Salvatorian Community. After the applicant is accepted as a candidate, the
formation program includes the following: a. A basic understanding of the vision of Father Francis Jordan and its initial graced expression in the lives of Blessed Mary of the Apostles and Fr. Bonaventure Luthen b. Knowledge of the Salvatorian charism, mission and history c. Formation in Salvatorian spirituality and the practice of individual and community prayer d. Preparation for a life of ministry and
community Upon the
completion of the formation period the candidate is presented to the Lay
Salvatorian National Board for acceptance. Following acceptance, the
candidate makes a commitment to the Lay Salvatorians and their |
